Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 16, 2026
Atlas Marks (“we”, “us”, “our”) lets people preserve a meaningful message at a unique place on a living map of the world. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using atlasmarks.com you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we store your email address, your display name, and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google — we never receive or store your Google password.
- Marks you create. The message, location (latitude/longitude, city and country), category, and participant number of any mark you preserve. Marks are public by design and appear on the map to other visitors.
- Payment information. Payments are handled entirely by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We keep a record that a payment was made so we can associate your mark and certificate with your account.
- Technical data. Basic, standard log data (such as browser type and general request information) needed to operate and secure the service.
How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and sign you in.
- To display the marks you create on the map and in the explore views.
- To generate and deliver your personalized certificate.
- To process payments through Stripe and confirm your contribution.
- To operate, protect, and improve the service.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers needed to run Atlas Marks — such as Stripe for payments and our hosting and email infrastructure — and only as required to provide the service or to comply with the law.
Google user data
When you choose “Continue with Google”, we request only your basic profile and email address to identify you and create your account. Atlas Marks’ use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use this data for advertising and do not share it with third parties except as described above.
Data retention & your rights
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. Note that marks are public and preserved as part of the map; deleting your account does not necessarily remove a preserved mark, but we will remove personal identifiers on request.
